Purple appears in Vogue’s Fall 2026 colour survey. If a full purple look feels remote from your wardrobe, pair a small amount with grey and use the difference in saturation to create a focal point.
Choose the grey deliberately
A pale grey can make the combination feel airy; charcoal produces a denser, more evening-like relationship. Compare the purple against both before deciding which one you prefer. The same knit or scarf can look surprisingly different.
Keep the first test simple
- Choose a grey outfit that already fits comfortably.
- Add one purple garment or accessory.
- Remove any extra bright accents for the first comparison.
- Check the result in daylight and under the lighting where you will actually wear it.
Then decide whether you want the purple to repeat. A second small touch can connect the top and bottom of an outfit, but repetition is not compulsory. Too much matching may make the look feel more planned than you want.
Do not mistake a trend for an instruction
A runway colour is something to consider, not a deadline. If you like the idea in a photograph but never enjoy wearing it, keep it as visual inspiration. You can take the structure of the combination—one bright against one quiet—and use a different colour entirely.
Our Colour Lab lets you compare the balance before you look through your clothes. Its swatches are illustrative, not fabric specifications.
