Gucci’s Primavera was Demna’s first runway collection for the house, presented for Autumn/Winter 2026. A debut invites sweeping verdicts. We prefer a narrower question: which relationships are being established between the clothes, the house and the person imagined wearing them?

Make a short list before reading the reviews

Look at the official collection and note three things you actually see. They might concern silhouette, colour or the way accessories sit against clothing. Write a description, not a verdict. “A long uninterrupted line” gives you something to investigate; “very Gucci” is only useful if you can explain what you mean.

Separate recognition from familiarity

A recognisable house detail can remain while its context changes. The same kind of bag can read differently beside a tailored coat or an evening look. Ask what surrounds the familiar element before deciding whether the collection is repeating or revising it.

Then compare your notes with the house’s stated intent. A designer’s explanation is valuable primary material, but it does not dictate your response. You can understand an intention and still find the result unconvincing—or enjoy a look for reasons the press notes never mention.

Give the sequence time

A single viral image can make a collection appear more uniform than it is. Browse the full sequence, including quieter looks between the memorable ones. Notice what repeats and what appears only once. Repetition is often the stronger clue to the collection’s vocabulary.

This is a method for looking, not a final assessment of an entire creative era. Fashion houses change through more than one show, and a first collection is the opening of that conversation.
